Cousins & Co-Founders, Samantha Pantazopoulos and Dylan Barbour set out on a mission to impact their community in a healthy way so they created Vizer, an app that trades your workout for a meal donation all while you earn credit for personal rewards at local restaurants, retail stores, etc. They believe that the biggest potential for impact lies where individuals, communities and commerce all come together and is why they’ve created a unique ecosystem of partners that are all in support of a healthier San Diego.
Why you decided to start your own business?
Sam: I started my first company when I was 8 years old selling lawn care services door to door and a little more than ten years later launched Vizer from my dorm room.
From then to now, I have always been fascinated by the power of an idea – how something that started as one small concept could snowball into something greater.
As an entrepreneur, you are constantly exploring new things, learning at an unbelievable pace, and solving interesting problems. I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing it, so I figured why wait.
One piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out?
Sam: Don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Some days, it may seem like your goal is a million miles away, but if you keep working towards it, you’ll be shocked by how quickly you get there.
